There are many ways for you to get as involved as you can and want to. Any involvement is greatly appreciated and helps us in our fight for racial equity.
Social Media
The easiest way is to keep up with us! FFREE has many social media sites where you can follow along and participate in our projects and work. They are updated often, so you will get the most up to date information from the following sites:
Events
We host many events throughout the year ranging from general meetings where we inform the general body and public of the work FFREE has been doing, to specialized events focused on specific topics, discussions, panels, etc. Attending these events will equip you with the knowledge to then advocate and make change in the community.
Action Items
Listed below are some things you can do right now to aid in the effort:
School Safety Survey
Framingham Families for Racial Equity in Education (FFREE) wants to know more about your experiences as a guardian, staff or student with school safety in the Framingham Public Schools. All information is confidential. We are asking you to share demographic information because we want to know the experiences of Black, Indigenous and People of Color as well as people with disabilities and people from the LGBTQIA+ communities. We will use this data to advocate for more justice when it comes to the safety of all of our children. Your personal information will never be shared.
Not feeling safe can include bullying, racial slurs, aggressive tone by teachers or other students, excessive punishment of children of color, physical aggression and/or other acts of discrimination in the classroom.
Petition to Defund the Police
In 2020, FFREE along with the Black Student Union at Framingham High School, launched this Petition to Defund the police in Framingham Public Schools. We’ve included a lot of research and information and are willing to have conversations with anyone who has questions. If we truly believe Black Lives Matter, let’s back it up with actions; Thoughts and prayers are not enough anymore. Framingham residents and non-residents welcome to sign!
